Chou Chia Yu
If drawing is an art of synthesis, then Chou Chia Yu has mastered her craft. The Taiwanese artist does not bother with superfluous strokes or cumbersome lines to achieve her ends. Her drawings use simple shapes, smooth colors, and elegant patterns to make an immediate impact, captivating the viewer from the very first glance. The works of this artist, who is now based in Japan, do not take us very far. The illustrator delights in observing everyday life, capturing its essence and placing key elements in scenes whose lightness and humor help the average person rediscover the joys of daily life. This is what Chou Chia Yu manages to do like few others: remind us that every moment of existence, even the most insignificant, is worth savoring.
