Elise Enjalbert - Dune du Pilat

Everything in Élise Enjalbert's work is in suspense. We take in a story as it unfolds, we see lines fading away and colors taking their liberty. We guess rather than affirm what's unfolding before our eyes. We advance a hypothesis as if we were taking a step forward: well decided, but not sure if we're going in the right direction. The illustrator takes great care to leave the viewer free to finish her pieces, and thus to create with her what will be the final work. It's up to you to build your own, adding your own feelings. Yet Élise Enjalbert's drawings are not blank spaces. With a virtuoso interplay of shapes and contrasts, the artist takes us by the hand. With her, then, we stroll through the wasteland she has unveiled for us.
