A crisp detail here, then a majestic composition around it, and the illustration unfolds in its implacable effectiveness. All that's left for Le Parisien to do is to dress it all up in the broad, bold colors for which he's famous, and the magic happens everywhere and for everyone. This, too, is Tom Haugomat's strength: to create works that speak the same language to the average person on the street as they do to the grumpy drawing critic who is too much of an aesthete.
