Abwu

Dreams have the advantage of resting on reality, while at the same time making leaps into the unknown. Chi Yi Wu, a.k.a. Abwu, works with this very material. By colliding the elements of real life with their spiritual mutations, the Taiwanese artist creates double-time images, on which viewers place one foot and leave the other above the void. The abundance of elements allows the viewer to pick and choose where he or she wishes to savor one or other of these sensations, leaning on familiar landmarks and escaping to new lands. These breathtaking graphic compositions, with their vivid, finely arranged colors, give the impression that another world is possible. Which is never unpleasant.
