Clément Thoby
Like a memory from who knows where. A fleeting image that we kept in our minds in case the need for comfort became too insistent, without knowing if it really belonged to us. Such are the drawings of Clément Thoby, which evoke more than they describe, which transport more than they narrate. A cabin in the woods, a Parisian park, Japanese signs... we make these landscapes our own, even though we have never seen them, and we relive scenes we have never witnessed. The Parisian artist's lively pencil strokes have the power to enter our private lives, to intrude into our mental space and become a pillar on which to rest. For these colors are familiar to us, these lights have already dazzled us, and these places, even if we have never been there, we have already dreamed of them.
