Emily Tronche

It took just a few black strokes for Émilie Tronche to draw a line that leads straight to our hearts. Even in middle school, Émilie Tronche was inventing stories that she shared from her grandfather's computer with thousands of readers eager for fan fiction and love stories. So it was only natural that after studying animation at the Ateliers de Sèvres and graduating from the EMCA (École des Métiers du Cinéma d'Animation) in Angoulême, the young director brought her first animated series to life: Samuel. Deliciously naive and spontaneous, Samuel revives the magic of childhood, the real thing, with its clumsiness, joys, and disappointments. Thanks to its minimalist drawings and sensitive narration, Samuel resonates with each of us as strongly as the chorus of an ABBA song.
