There’s something fishy about Jack Fletcher’s illustrations. He’s cheating, that’s for sure. How is it possible for the drawing to move even though it isn’t moving? How can it be static when everything else is in motion? Witchcraft. The stake. Etc. Wait. Before we go there, let’s at least enjoy the few images left behind by the Scotsman. After all, they’re devilishly beautiful. Packed with distortions, swift movements, and improbable colors, they are temptation itself. Innovative, shattering conventions, and frankly delightful to the eye, they might even deserve absolution. Don’t they say we should know how to be merciful? After all, Jack Fletcher isn’t necessarily a sorcerer. He’s simply a magician.
