Reality isn't really Stefan Glerum's thing. The Dutch illustrator prefers the glorious science-fiction stories of the last century, with their Dantesque machines and dreams of impossible futures. Here he uses mechanics and techniques to assemble piece after piece of rolling, flying, backfiring machines, straight out of the years that will never come. We're afraid of the din, but the Dutchman's illustrations are the opposite of his artifacts: infinitely gentle. To achieve this, he draws on the artistic movements of the 20th century, from Futurism to the clear lines of the 80s, with Joost Swarte at the forefront. From these iron monsters, elegance emerges.
