Drawing is all about synthesis. There’s no need to reproduce the billions of cells in a human body to convey its power. A line or two, a few well-chosen shapes, and harmonious colors can create beauty. For many years now, Marylou Faure has been delightfully stacking these few elements together, transforming them into characters that restore the former radiance of the ordinary individual. Her women express nothing but the joy of being themselves, and in doing so, they reinvigorate even those who no longer believe in it. Whether in sculpture or on paper, her creations flit about like good fairies, tapping here and there with their magic wands on our bubbling minds. A few strokes for infinite happiness—we must admit, the cure is effective.
