Maaike Canne
Maaike Canne is an illustrator and visual artist based in Rotterdam whose vibrant, colorful compositions reimagine everyday spaces with a cinematic serenity. Inspired by modernist architecture, interior design, and the natural world, her work explores the interplay between interior and exterior. Spaces that open onto landscapes, structures that blend into their surroundings, striking a balance between bold graphics and a quiet, almost nostalgic warmth. Her scenes often give the impression that someone has just stepped out of the frame. This deliberate absence is what gives her work its appeal: spaces rich in suggestion, inviting the viewer to step inside and complete the story.
She works in digital illustration, gouache, oil painting, and large-scale murals, alternating between editorial commissions, packaging, and brand campaigns.
