The Water Lily Pond, Symphony in Rose (Claude Monet) - María Medem
Because illustration has its place in museums, the Musée d'Orsay and KIBLIND are offering a collection of exclusive posters printed in risography by KIBLIND Atelier.
With the aim of initiating a timeless dialogue between artists of yesterday and today, French and international illustrators Manon Diemer, Mayumi Otero (Icinori), María Medem, Karlotta Freier, María Jesús Contreras and Jisu Choi were invited to reinterpret masterpieces from the Musée d'Orsay collections in the form of comic stories.
" The magic of this painting lies in the interplay of colors, reflections and shadows, creating a marvelous labyrinth of shapes and possible meanings. I wanted to imagine what might be happening in this scene, so I included a character on the bridge, observing the willow tree. "María Medem

María Medem
Maria Medem's drawings exude an unusual serenity. It must be said that she knows how to make us feel comfortable in her world. A woman of few strokes, with a flair for composition and an admirer of contrasting colors, she embraces the admirable motto "less is more." With this economy of means, the Spanish artist invents impossible worlds in which she places characters in search of a bygone past and an intangible future. This is the case in her three comic books published in France, Échos and Cedars by Fidèle éditions and Zénith and À cause d'une fleur by Rackham. It is also the case in her contributions to the most prestigious international magazines such as Cold Cube (Cold Cube Press) and Now (Fantagraphics). Getting lost has never felt so good.
