María Medem

Maria Medem's drawings exude an unusual serenity. It must be said that she knows how to make us feel comfortable in her world. A woman of few strokes, with a flair for composition and an admirer of contrasting colors, she embraces the admirable motto "less is more." With this economy of means, the Spanish artist invents impossible worlds in which she places characters in search of a bygone past and an intangible future. This is the case in her three comic books published in France, Échos and Cedars by Fidèle éditions and Zénith and À cause d'une fleur by Rackham. It is also the case in her contributions to the most prestigious international magazines such as Cold Cube (Cold Cube Press) and Now (Fantagraphics). Getting lost has never felt so good.
